True realism

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“Intelligence is the purity of a regard which goes to the heart of things.”

DOSTOÏEVSKI (1821-1881)
Writer

“Things exist, and it is not thought that creates them. Things have an order, and it is not thought that decrees that order. Things have different worth and it is not thought that has decided that worth. The function of thought, and it is immense, is to know things, to discern order, to recognize value. I’m not saying that it is necessary to adhere to realism so that France might live, but that realism is true and that, because it is true, it offers the French the possibility of unity and accord by putting before them an order of things that is independent of the whims of the individual.”

Étienne GILSON (1884-1978)
Philosopher
