Ringed by a moat and bordered by a forest, the castle of Couloutre stands in the Nièvre region, equidistant from the cities of Auxerre, Nevers, and Bourges, and close to Vezelay, Saint-Fargeau, and Guédelon, between the Loire and Yonne Rivers and the A6 and A77 highways.
This stately manor has been both a site for summer camps and a campground of preference for numerous troops of boy scouts. Today it harbors a small elementary school for boys and girls (Our Lady of Holy Hope). The surrounding land has a rich history and culture, as well as a wide variety of animals and plants which provide the teachers with many live illustrations for their classes.
