A harmonious nature

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“Home is the source of all things: it is all in the mother and the father.”

Henri POURRAT (1887–1959)
Writer

“A child who comes into the world needs a home to welcome him… What forms the child is not simply the oral instruction, which is more or less systematic, but it is especially the atmosphere of the home, and the presence and attitude of his parents, and of his brothers and sisters, or the atmosphere of the neighborhood, and the flow of daily life, with all that the child sees, hears, and feels. Each of these elements, perhaps minimal in itself, and seemingly without any flash, always leaves its trace, and little by little determines the fundamental attitudes that the child will have in life: confidence in those who surround him, honesty, docility, a spirit of enterprise and of discipline, respect for authority, or on the contrary, selfish individualism, insubordination, rebellion. The gentle but constant influence of a healthy, united, and ordered family regulates the natural instincts, orients them and coordinates them, and thus forms in the children a harmonious nature that is fully developed both individually and socially.”

Pius XII (1876-1958)
Eugenio Pacelli, Pope from 1939 to 1958
