Fashion Follows the Moon

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“If we knew how to speak with clarity and strength, we would be close to thinking well and, with God’s help, acting well.”

“Therefore, if we want to act better, why not begin by speaking better? Let us give back to our [English] language its health, its freshness, its vitality, and its youth. Those who are truly great personnages have known this all too well: the mind and its expression will get their sap and their salt flowing only by contact with the earth; the elderly are quite the opposite of old, for even at an advanced age, what is green and vigorous is never old. Fashion follows the moon and the mood of the moment. Youth, on the other hand, is grounded in the earth.”
