I was told about Odile’s first steps in the supernatural life. [Her first communion], celebrated with the greatest of simplicity and trust, brought me very close to home again, and it was a source of happiness for me in my separation. It would have been useless to have waited. The freshness of a child should never be opposed by the feeble reasonings of grown-ups. The love of Jesus in this soul will fill her and guide her.
