Long live Christ, King of France!

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“The education of children is the renewal of the world.”

BONIFACIO (20th century)

“Let us not exaggerate the difficulties when it comes to practicing all that the Faith requires of us to accomplish our duties and to exercise the fruitful apostolate of good example which God asks of each one of us. The difficulties come from him who creates and exaggerates them, who relies on himself and not on the aid of heaven, who gives in, fearfully intimidated by the mockery and contempt of the world: by this, we can conclude that, in our time, more than ever, the chief strength of the wicked lies in the cowardice and weakness of good men. All the strength of Satan’s reign is due to the easy-going weakness of Catholics. Oh! If I might ask the Divine Redeemer, as the prophet Zacharias did in spirit: “What are those wounds in the midst of Thy hands?” The answer would not be doubtful: “With these was I wounded in the house of them that loved Me. I was wounded by My friends who did nothing to defend Me and who, on every occasion, made themselves the accomplices of My adversaries.
From this reproach, which can be leveled at the weak and timid Catholics of all countries, cannot be excluded a large number of the Catholics of France. […] You will tell your fellow countrymen that, if they love France, they must love God, the Faith, and Mother Church, who is for all of them, as She was for your fathers, a very tender Mother. You will tell them to cherish the testaments of Saint Remi, Charlemagne and Saint Louis – the testaments which are summarized in these words, so often repeated by the heroine of Orleans: « Long live Christ, the King of France!” Address given on December 13, 1908
