Secret of Our Destinies

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“Let us give them beautiful texts, great texts, elegant texts which can nourish them, because these are the marrow of our tradition and the life of our soul.”

Jacques COPEAU (1879- 1949)
Writer, actor and director of French theater

“To bring little human beings into existence… what a mystery, what a source of concern… how much this work surpasses our abilities… it would be impossible without Providence. We can arm them, but we cannot cure them. We can go part of the way with them, but we cannot follow them. We try to instruct them; we cannot immunize them. There is in each child the secret of his being. The secret of his destiny, the secret of his inclinations, the secret of completely contradictory influences upon him, the secret of the graces he has received and the manner in which he accepted or refused them… The future of our children is the work of parents cooperating with God, of parents acting virtuously and daring to awaken God from His apparent silence.”

Frère Bernard-Marie de CHIVRÉ (1902-1984)
Dominican
