Take a running start and plunge into Your depths

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“The modest education given in primary Catholic schools does more for the regeneration of a people than the eloquent lessons of sages and doctors.”

Armand de MELUN (1801-1877)
Apostle of Charity

“It is through the Church that I become aware of the incredible riches which have been showered upon me. And with that awareness it is impossible for me to find a me that is only personal: it seems to me that I belong to every epoch — I have real roots in the Old Testament, I belong to the whole Church, and all her members belong to me. I believe all and I expect all from God: I lack a full vision, but everything is held together in my dear faith… I have to continue walking farther and going higher, on a path above this earth, and instead of despising or forgetting, I must simply rise above. Neither the evil, nor the good in me should become an obstacle in my path, but rather I should take all my ugliness and change it into purity and light by offering it to be consumed by that flame which consumes all sin… Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinful man; henceforth for me these words mean: Depart from me, O Lord, so that I can take a running start and plunge into Your depths.

Reverend Father CLÉRISSAC (1864-1914)
Dominican
