White Caravels

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“Certain directors, I know, think it advisable to count one’s acts of virtue to advance on the path of perfection. But my director, who is Jesus, does not teach me to count my acts of virtue; He teaches me to do everything out of love. Children do not work in order to obtain a good position for themselves; if they are well-behaved, it is to make their parents happy; so also one must not work in order to become a saint, but to make God happy.” in Letter to Celine

“All those Ave Marias, and all those prayers of the Virgin and the noble Salve Regina are white caravels, humbly resting under their sails on the surface of the water; like little white doves which one might take in hand.
Now those gentle doves under their wings,
Those familiar white doves, those doves in hand,
Those humble doves lying in the palm of one’s hand,
Those doves accustomed to one’s hand,
Those caravels vested with sails,
Of all the ships, these are the most opportune;
That is, the ships which fly with undeviating path straight to port.”
