From all the height of her soul

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

The purpose of education is that the child should come to prefer freely and for ever truth to falsehood, good to evil, justice to injustice, beauty to ugliness, and God to all.

“When my brother and I were teenagers, then young men, in our eyes our mother never lost anything of her absolutely transcendent authority because, though our minds were more cultivated than hers, she dominated us from all the height of her soul, and because we felt that she was nearer than we were to the real and the ideal, more filled with grace and deep truth. On the contrary she looked grander every day and, towards the end, only the word admiration seemed fit to express the feeling which she inspired to me.”
