Nothing in the world is so beautiful

“Walk as children of the light”
(Ephesians 5:8)

Parents, leaders, and educators, we have a mission, a duty to lead children's souls toward the Light which will be their guide and their happiness. In order to illuminate the way that lies before each one of us, once a week we invite you to discover some of the words of certain wisemen and witnesses, measuring their worth by the words of St. Thomas Aquinas: “Do not consider the one who speaks, but whatever good you hear from him, confide it to your memory.” (from The Sixteen Ways to Acquire the Treasure of Knowledge by St. Thomas). Happy reading!

“It is only in renouncing all personal time that the educator merits affection, attention and change in his disciple.”

Père Augustin-Ferdinand AUFFRAY (1881-1955)
Biographer of Don Bosco

“Nothing is so beautiful in the world as a child who falls asleep while saying his prayers, says God. I’m telling you, nothing in the whole world is as beautiful as this. I’ve never seen anything as beautiful in the world. And yet I’ve seen the beauties of the world. Trust me on this one. My creation is overflowing with beauty, and spilling over with wonders… I’ve seen faces of prayer, faces of tenderness, lost in Charity, which shine eternally in the endless night… And I’ve seen entire lives, from birth to death, from Baptism to Viaticum, unroll like a beautiful skein of wool… And I’m telling you, says God, I know nothing so beautiful in the whole world as a little child who falls asleep while saying his prayers: a little child protected by the wings of his guardian angel, who laughs with his angel as he falls asleep, and who has already mixed up everything together and who doesn’t understand anything anymore — stuffing the confused words of the Our Father pell mell into the words of the Hail Mary, all the while a veil already descending over his eyelids, the veil of the night descending on his face and on his voice.”
